Herkes Iyi Kurban Bayrami!!

Today we have started the celebration of Kurban Bayram also called Eid Al-Adha.

We celebrate it for the memory of Ibrahim and that he was willing to offer his son to Allah. They also say it was Ibrahim, his wife and son that built Kaaba.

Under Kurban you are offering a animal to Allah, it can be a goat, cow or camel. Just its a animal in good health and gets killed on a halal way you may offer it.

Most of the meat you get from the slaughter you have to give away to people that is in more need of it then you.

This eid is all about to give something that someone eals needs better.

I have never been in Mersin under Kurban but I can imagine its like Ramazan. The men goes to speciall namaz under the first day. Second day you do the slaughter and the woman have a whole days work infront of them. Under the evening its a fest of celebration with all family. And all the food is included lamb meat....

One part of me is missing the fest but other half is so happy for not being there and have to eat that meat. If I should say it in a nice way, my body can not take in lamb.

Hopefully I will learn eat one day becouse I will have to do this some day.

And when Moses said unto his people: O my people! Ye have wronged yourselves by your choosing of the calf (for worship) so turn in penitence to your Creator, and kill (the guilty) yourselves. That will be best for you with your Creator and He will relent toward you. Lo! He is the Relenting, the Merciful.

.

Lo! Han är Relenting, den barmhärtige.

Today is the first day of

Hajj (The pilgrimage).

This day falls in the 8 day in the Islamic months Dhu al-Hijjah which is around 70 days after ramazan.

Hajj is one of the five pillar in Islam that you have to do under your life if you are in good health, in legal age, money to completed the trip and that you are free.

You are traveling to Mecca for do some rituals around Ka'aba (The mosque of Muhammed).

Under Hajj you are forbidden to...

       To cut nails.

       To cut your hair.

       The use of perfume.

To have sexual intercourse with your wife.

       Wearing gloves.

       To chase animals.

To have sewn garments or sewn fabric itself (only men).

To cover his head with a hat or similar with the exception of umbrella (only men).

To Have "Niqab" (only women). Niqab is a headdress that covers the entire head incl. face as opposed to "Hijab" which does not cover the face.

To refrain from arranging marriages and self-refrain from marriage to someone or get married.

To refrain from all sinful deeds, coarse speech and disputes.

A brief description of the pilgrimage, step by step.

Day 1

This day is known as Yawm at-Tarwija which means [Day to quench the thirst] and it got that name when the pilgrims had traveled a long way so that the water we had was running out so what you had to do when you came to the sanctuary was to drink Zamzam water.

• You will walk seven of which around Sanctuary.
• You may carry two (units) behind the prayer of Abraham.
• You should drink Zamzam water.
• You must walk seven times back and the back between As-Safa and Al-Marwah.
• One has to go mine but it's fine to go there to spend the night there.

  • Man får utföra två (enheter) bön bakom Abrahams plats.
  • Man ska dricka Zamzam vatten.
  • Man ska vandra totalt sju gånger fram och tillbacka mellan As-Safa och Al-Marwah.
  • Man får gå Miná men det går bra att åka dit för att övernatta där.

And when We gave unto Moses the Scripture and the criterion (of right and wrong), that ye might be led aright.

Och när vi gav till Mose skriften och kriteriet (om rätt och fel), så att ni kan ledas rätt.

Happy Father's Day!!

This is said on Wikipedia about Fathers day:

''Father's Day originated in the 1910s the United States. The initiative came from Mrs.. John B. Dodd of Spokane, Washington state, who wanted to honor his father, Mr.. William Smart that he alone brought up her and her five siblings on their farm in Washington since his wife when she gave birth to the family's sixth child, died in childbirth. Mrs.. Dodds initiative spread, and already in 1924 President Calvin Coolidge declared that he supported the idea. It would take until 1966 before President Lyndon B. Johnson established the third Sunday of June as Father's Day throughout the United States.

Father's Day celebrated for the first time on 19 June 1910 in Spokane, Washington. The practice came to Sweden in 1931 and the day was celebrated at the beginning of June also in other Nordic countries. After requests from the Nordic trading community later was the time of Father's Day to November to be more in relation to Mother's Day. Father's Day falls therefore now on the second Sunday in November.''
